Fasting in general, is to let your body go through a healing process. Fasting comes in different ways. The most common way is to cut off food consumption for a while. This cut-off of food consumption could lead to many positive outcomes. According to science, fasting has many positive effects on the human body. This article will briefly mention how fasting can positively impact the human body.

Starting with body weight, fasting can lead to body weight loss by reducing calorie intake and promoting fat burning. Another benefit is fasting can improve insulin sensitivity. That is to say, it may lower the sugar levels in the bloodstream and reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes. According to a Japanese scientist, intermittent fasting can produce body cells that are called self-eating cells. These cells can eat or repair harmful cells in the body, including cancer cells. In addition, it can alter genes in the body to become more resistant to diseases. Furthermore, inflammation is reduced in the body when fasting and can decrease the chances of chronic diseases. Lastly, fasting may stimulate the production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor, which can improve brain function and protect against neurodegenerative diseases.
